Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior for Traffic Affairs Major General Abdulfatah Al-Ali applauded the role played by the Auto Mechanics and Traffic Systems Competition in raising people's traffic awareness.

Over 3,600 school students, male and females, have taken part in this year's edition of the contest which is co-organized by Kuwait Science Club and ministries of interior and education.
Speaking at the closing ceremony of the 22nd edition of the contest late Thursday, Al-Ali said the contest shed lights on importance of auto mechanic awareness for drivers and people's safety on the road.

Traffic accidents are the third biggest cause of death in Kuwait, Al-Ali regretted, adding that such events help increase awareness and thus reduce the number of traffic accidents.
Al-Ali thanked all the co-organizers and the participants in the competition.

For his part, Board Chairman of Kuwait Science Club Iyyad Al-Kharafi said that the competition is meant to provide students with the required skills and information to secure their safety when they have their own drive licenses and cars.

He announced drivers' representatives of six schools have won the contest in its current edition.
