I would like to extend my sincere congratulations to His Highness the Amir Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah on the occasion of the 13th year of his rule and to the government and people of Kuwait on the occasion of the national and liberation days. His Highness the Amir is beloved in Kuwait because of his wisdom and the proximity to his people. He is respected on the international scene as a humanitarian leader and a voice of peace and moderation.
The bilateral relations between the Kingdom of Belgium and the State of Kuwait have grown ever stronger over the last years. At the political level, I can highlight the recent bilateral meeting between deputy prime minister and Foreign Minister H.E. Didier Reynders and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister H.E. Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Sabah in New York, where both countries are currently members of the United Nations Security Council. Belgium and Kuwait share the same values and are staunch supporters of regional integration and multilateralism. In the economic field, there is a renewed interest in bilateral trade and investment. In the cultural field, there have been multiple exchanges between our countries during the last years.
I am looking forward to spending the rest of this month with my good friends in Kuwait in the pleasant winter temperatures of February. I wish you all good health and prosperity in this festive month and in the years to come
