The Kindergarten wing of Bhavans Smart Indian School (SIS) celebrated Gandhi Jayanti with enthusiasm and fervor.
Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, also known as the Father of the Nation, was born on 2nd October 1989 and every year, his birthday is commemorated as Gandhi Jayanti. Gandhiji was a pioneer of peace and non-violence. He played a crucial role in India’s freedom struggle. Focusing this, the school conducted various activities for the children. The staff and students were dressed in Khadi dress to symbolize unity in the celebration of this day. The ambience filled the minds with sacrifice, peace and selfless care rendered by this greatest person.
The day started with an assembly conducted by KG2 Capricorn to inform everyone about the importance of this day. The assembly showcased a skit on the life of Gandhiji and the Dandi march and also had a dance performance. The assembly highlighted Gandhiji’s principles and teachings. The tiny tots viewed slide shows of the movement and the freedom struggles led by Gandhiji.
The Primary Wing also conducted a celebration to honour the day. The students of grade 5 led a special assembly, which highlighted various aspects of the struggle endured by Gandhiji and Indians to free India from British Raj. As part of the program, there were songs that spoke on liberation, and skits that depicted the Dandi March and Non-violence Movement. Few students were also involved in cleaning the campus to imbibe the voice of the Father of our Nation as well as to honor the words of present India’s Prime Minister – Shri. Narendra Modi. The bulletin boards of other classes were also filled with the quotes and great works of Gandhiji.
