After Kuwait officials intervened in the case, the nine Kuwaitis, who were detained by Cypriot police for a month for their involvement in a brawl, were allowed to leave, and will be arriving in Kuwait tomorrow evening. Their month-long ordeal ended due to the efforts of the foreign ministry, who have been working tirelessly to secure their release.

The nine Kuwaitis were caught and detained by Cypriot authorities for getting into a fight with Britons in Ayia Napa, a resort town on the southeastern coast of Cyprus. According to local Cyprus media, two British holidaymakers suffered serious injuries, and two Kuwaitis were treated for bruises and scratches, but were later taken into custody.

The altercation began between a group of 20 British and Kuwaiti nationals at the hotel complex around 7pm on Thursday, 29 August, before escalating to the streets, bringing nearby traffic to a standstill. Around 250 people were witnesses to the fight at the hotel.
