The Coast Guard General Administration thwarted the attempt to smuggle a number of falcons and other birds into the country. A citizen was arrested and eight cages with smuggled birds were confiscated, Al Anbaa reported.
The arrested citizen said that he received the birds from an Iranian boat.
Regarding the details of the case, a security source said that surveillance cameras detected an Iranian boat that infiltrated into the territorial waters, the boat returned quickly and through the surveillance cameras, another cruiser was identified that received items from it.
Initially, the coastal guard believed that the smuggling is related to drugs. But, it was found that there were 8 cages containing falcons and other birds.
