Court adjourns hearing on case calling to ban Twitter

Legal hearings into a call for banning Twitter in Kuwait was adjourned without specifying any date but only ordering that a date be set to hear the case.

A local lawyer had filed the case last month asking the court to ban Twitter since the government had failed to curb the spread of false information that was “destroying the values of society. He urged the court to intervene in order to protect society from “manipulation and rumors”.

Specifically, the court filing by the lawyer requested the court to question the Minister of Information and the chairman of the Communication and Information Technology Regulatory Authority (CITRA) over their “weak control of fake accounts”.
