The Criminal Court has refused to release the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Kuwait Farmers Union and his associate who have been sent to prison for forging official documents.

The Al-Seyassah daily said the court has set Nov 11, 2021, to look into the case.

The defense attorney Duwaim Al-Muwaizri, who represents the chairman called the lawsuit ‘malicious’ and said it is linked to the previous meeting of the General Assembly of the Board of Directors, stressing his client held in 2018 to change some articles of the statute.

He also said the meeting was held on time after publishing the invitation through Kuwaiti newspapers and the meeting had ended with a vote to amend some articles of the statute which his opponents now call a ‘forgery’.

He added two years later, some people who were not fortunate enough to win the elections to the board of directors of the union filed a complaint, claiming the signatures of five members were forged saying they were outside the country and were not present during the assembly meeting.
