Dasman Diabetes of Institute (DDI), which was founded by Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (KFAS), in cooperation with the Kuwait Finance House, recently held their annual Girga’an celebration for children with diabetes and their families in Kuwait.

Many children attended the event which featured a lot of educational and cultural games followed by a theatrical performance. There were also stations for Henna art, face-painting and a booth for children to take pictures with the attending cartoon characters. The Public Relations and Media Department at Dasman Diabetes Institute ensured a variety of activities were organized that catered to all age groups.

The kids also enjoyed an appearance from ‘Abu Tubaila’, a traditional character part of every Kuwaiti Ramadan; they sang with him while he played his drum.  The event came to an end with the distribution of Girga’an gift bags and prizes.  Dr. Qais Al Duwairi, Director General of Dasman Diabetes Institute stated: “This event is important to make the children and their families aware that they can enjoy Girga’an and similar events”.

This event was characterized by teamwork and youth involvement. It encouraged the Kuwaiti youth to volunteer; thus, reflecting a unified Kuwaiti society. Special thanks goes to Fantasy World for their donation of toys and the volunteers group ‘Ata Hub’ for their assistance in making this event a huge success.
