A total of 17,000 expatriates were deported from the country in 2018 compared to 29,000 in 2017, a decline of about 45%, reports a security source familiar with the issue, reports Al-Qabas daily.

The source pointed out the decline in the number of people who have been living illegally in the country compared to previous years, which is a major reason for the decrease in the number of deportees.

However, the ministry is said to have issued new instructions not to deport any expatriate arbitrarily or illegally. The sources explained in 2016 about 31,000 people were deported after a series of security campaigns in the country during that period.
