Direct flights expected to restart from 35-banned countries

Passengers from 35 countries that were banned from flying to Kuwait directly, may be permitted to do so from 21 February when Kuwait International Airport is expected to resume operations.

In a circular issued on Thursday, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) indicated that pending approval from the Ministry of Health, Kuwait International Airport would allow passengers from the 35 countries that are currently on a banned list to fly directly to Kuwait from their destinations.

However, the DGCA underlined that the passengers arriving from these countries would have to meet specific conditions, including that all passengers from the banned countries on landing in Kuwait would have to complete 14-days of institutional quarantine in a local hotel at their own expense.

The incoming passengers would also have to bear the cost of conducting two PCR tests, one on landing at Kuwait International Airport and other prior to the end of their quarantine period.

The DGCA also informed all airlines ferrying passengers from these countries that they would have to ensure that the passengers are registered online on Kuwait Mosafer platform, and that the cost of PCR is paid online through the Mosafer platform, or is collected by the airlines or through services provided by airport service providers.

The DGCA added that passengers arriving from countries that were not on the banned list will also have to spend mandatory institutional quarantine, in a local hotel for 7 days at their own expense.

Regarding domestic workers, the DGCA stated that this category of workers could continue to arrive in Kuwait through facilities provided by the Belsalamah platform.

DGCA directed all the airlines to comply with all the issued guidelines and in case of violation the airlines would be held responsible and would be subjected to relevant penalties.
