Dubai announces fresh mandatory quarantine rules against coronavirus

The Dubai Health Authority (DHA) has announced that as a precautionary measure, residents and visitors who enter into close proximity with Covid-19 patients in Dubai are obligated to place themselves under 10 days home quarantine, even if their test result is negative.

All close contacts should start home quarantine for 10 days starting immediately after the last exposure, despite test results showing negative after they are subjected to the relevant tests. They are also asked to self-monitor for any respiratory symptoms that could be signs of the virus.

Any patient showing signs of related symptoms during the 10 days quarantine should be tested for Covid-19 in the relevant medical centers, said the circular.

The DHA guidelines underscore that a close contact is defined as anyone who has had the following circumstances to be exposed to a Covid-19 case, from two days before onset of illness and date of the positive swab to 14 days after:

DHA also reduced the isolation period for certain COVID-19 patients and close contact cases to 10 days from the initial 14-day period.

The shortened isolation period is applicable to COVID-19 patients who did not develop any symptoms since testing positive, and also applies to patients with mild cases of COVID-19 who have fully recovered from their symptoms without the use of fever-reducing medications.
