The Duke of Cambridge is scheduled to pay an official visit to Kuwait and Oman from the 1 to 4 December, said an announcement by the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office.

Kuwait, a key partner of Britain in the Gulf, will pay tribute to the historic ties that Britain shares with Kuwait, and will highlight the strong links and cooperation in many areas, including education, the environment, and defence.

The visit, the first by the Duke to Kuwait, comes during the 120th anniversary of the signing of the 1899 Treaty of Friendship between Kuwait and the UK, and will mark this important moment in UK-Kuwait history.

During his visit to Kuwait, the Duke will interact with organizations working to educate and empower young people and help them develop important life skills such as leadership and resilience.

The Duke is also slated to learn more about Kuwait’s ambitious plans to conserve the natural environment and protect the country’s important ecosystems from new environmental challenges.

In addition, he will spend time understanding the important security history of the region, and the UK’s current links with Kuwait from a defence perspective. The Duke also plans to join Kuwaiti and UK troops who are undertaking a Desert Warrior Exercise, and meet with military personnel who are sharing expertise to improve mutual security.

The Duke of Cambridge (Prince William) is the second in line to the throne and the elder son of the Heir Apparent Prince of Wales (Prince Charles) and the late Diana, Princess of Wales. His Royal Highness is married to The Duchess of Cambridge, Catherine. The royal couple has three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.
