In recent years the educational standard in higher institutes of learning in the country have been deteriorating on account of several factors, including the lack of effective policies and regulations, says the Kuwait Society for Education Quality (KSEQ) in its latest report.

The shortcomings have led to a steady decline in educational outcomes of Kuwait University (KU) and Public Authority for Applied Education and Training (PAAET) over the years, said the Society. The remarks by KSEQ comes in the wake of similar reports by the World Bank.

According to the Society, “Kuwait’s public education has been suffering from the lack of good technical, human and organizational staff at the education ministry with the result that the ministry has failed in fighting fake degrees that have been destroying Kuwait.”

In addition, KU lacks the tools needed for academic accreditation after the National Agency for Academic Accreditation and Quality Education had been “neutralized through interfering in its liabilities by university councils,” said KSEQ.
