Civil Service Commission (CSC) has been charged with the task of taking legal action against several citizens found to have used fake certificates to obtain jobs in various government entities.

The incident came to light when the Public Authority for Applied Education and Training (PAAET) was asked to certify the baccalaureate certificates of eight citizens employed in the public sector. Officials at PAAET discovered that the certificates issued under PAAET letterheads were fake and accordingly referred the matter to the CSC to pursue necessary legal measures.

The issuance of executive regulations for law No. 78/2019 bans the use of certificates that have not been evaluated, and suspends promotion for employees to any supervisory position until their certificates are verified.

Accordingly, the concerned authorities have been urged to withdraw any decisions taken by the offenders, as well as rectify job specifications and remunerations that were based on their academic qualifications.
