The Public Authority for Industry is expected to officially hand over a site for collecting used tires in the Eriha area to the Environment Public Authority (EPA) on Thursday, 17 October in the presence of the Director General of EPA Sheikh Abdullah Al-Ahmed.
An earlier decision by the cabinet had mandated the EPA to supervise the sites allocated for the storage and safe disposal of used tires collected from around the country. The Cabinet also authorized the EPA to issue licenses to recycling factories interested in recycling used tires in a safe and environmentally friendly manner that complied with EPA standards. In addition, the Cabinet has called on the Public Authority for Industry to coordinate with the EPA to find a suitable site for this purpose.
