The English School Fahaheel (ESF) Drama Department presented the renowned broadway musical ‘Annie’ this year with enchanting backdrops and costumes that set the scene of the 1930’s. The audience was thrilled with the acting and musical talent of the ESF students.

The elaborate cast of over 25 students were directed by Mr.P. Mulley, Musical Director Ms. Nicollette Van Zitters and choreography done by Mrs.C Tait- Mulley.

ESF has a long history of elaborate musical productions over the years, including productions of Oliver, The Wizard of Oz, Grease, and The Lion King.

Annie is based upon the popular Harold Gray comic strip Little Orphan Annie, with music by Charles Strouse, lyrics by Martin Charnin, and the book by Thomas Meehan. The original Broadway production opened in 1977 and ran for nearly six years. It won the Tony Award for best musical. ESF’s production of Annie had Casey Arnolds in the lead role supported by Abbas Bedawala as Warbucks, Kim Arnolds as Mrs. Hannigan, Rosie Thompson as Grace Ferrel and orphans Lana Al Khami, Nagat Abdelgawad, Ljina Rashiti, Hanan Sdat, Lekaa Ashraf, Nayana Muhammed, Nafisa Maleah and Hadeel Al Rashdi.
