The emergency and crisis management team of the Public Authority for Manpower
(PAM) has completed the departure procedures for about 100 expat workers in Mahboula area, following the cancellation of their residence permits under companies given government contracts, reported a local daily.

According to official sources from PAM, the team affiliated to the Deputy Director for Labor Protection Sector Affairs Dr. Mubarak Al-Azmi and under the leadership of the Supervisor for Labor Relations Department Ali Al-Dilmani supervised the departure of the workers, which involved ensuring the workers received their complete financial dues before they were transported to the airport on private buses, in coordination with the representatives of companies under which these workers are registered. They stopped at the police station of Fintas area, to complete their travel and boarding procedures.

In line with the Cabinet’s decisions in terms of the measures to combat COVID-19 pandemic, the Labor Affairs Sector has adopted a final cancellation service to facilitate the travel of workers on government projects by using the online service to streamline the process, and make things easy for both employees and employers. This is also to achieve a remote work policy.

Instructions were issued by PAM officials regarding the importance of ensuring these workers are given their dues before their departure. If any company refuses or evades its obligations towards its workers, strict legal procedures would be taken against them such as blocking their file and liquidation of its financial guarantee to pay the dues of its workers.

The team, which is working around the clock during the COVID-19 pandemic, succeeded in paying the monthly financial dues of hundreds of expatriate workers who are registered on the files of troubled companies. They revealed that the last payment was made at the accommodation shelter for expatriate workers in Jleeb Al- Shuyoukh area in coordination with the police station of the area. The team will continue to provide assistance and aid to the affected workers and make sure they receive their dues.
