A citizen from an undisclosed Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) state has filed a case with the Ministry of Interior (MoI) against a Kuwaiti man over a bogus real estate deal.

According to the case papers, the Kuwaiti, a well-known real estate owner, signed a contract with the GCC national to provide him with real estate properties worth an estimated KD20 million in Kuwait, in exchange for properties of the same value in the country of the GCC citizen.

After signing the contracts, the Kuwaiti businessman granted his properties to the GCC national, which included farms and residential buildings. But later it was found that the properties were already mortgaged to local banks and the properties could not be transferred to the new owner.

The MoI has reportedly begun investigating the case and the Kuwaiti businessman is likely to be either summoned for questioning, or arrested, based on the outcome of the investigation.
