Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) foreign ministerial talks held in Riyadh on Monday, has unanimously recommended the candidacy of Kuwait’s Nayef Al-Hajraf for the post of new GCC Secretary-General. The recommendation is to be forwarded to the Leaders Summit, scheduled for Tuesday.

The ‘in camera’ discussion by the GCC foreign ministers participating in the 145th preparatory meeting for the GCC Supreme Council 40th session by GCC foreign ministers, was attended from the Kuwait side by Deputy Foreign Minister Khaled Al-Jarallah.

Speaking following the ministerial talks, Al-Jarallah said the meeting was “positive and frank” as attending ministers saw eye-to-eye on several draft proposals that will also be presented to the leaders.
