The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India – Kuwait Chapter (ICAI KC) conducted VCM on ‘Is the Business World Becoming More Unethical? Roles and Responsibilities of Auditors and Accountants in this Changing World’ on 25 July for the benefit of its members.
The VCM began with a welcome speech by CA Kaizar Shakir, Chairman ICAI Kuwait Chapter. The members maintained a one-minute silence and mourned the passing away of CA Alex John Alexander on 14 July. CA Kaizar requested members to contribute articles for the upcoming issue of e-newsletter “Jagruti, The awakening”. Followed by this, he then introduced the speaker for the evening – CA Robin Banerjee, Managing Director at Caprihans India Limited.
CA Robin, an astute and articulate orator with immense experience and knowledge conducted the VCM in a way befitting his persona. The topic was very interesting and CA Robin made it more so by citing various examples from Indian Corporate world, explaining the wrong doings in the past and how to stay vigilant and upright heeding lessons from this. In context of unethical activities, CA Robin explained the roles and responsibilities of auditors and accountants.
The Attendees actively participated especially in the Q&A session, where CA Robin responded to all the queries. The event concluded with a Vote of Thanks by CA Rohit Agrawal.
