An awareness movement ‘SAY NO TO PLASTIC’ has been a huge success at the Indian Community School, Kuwait (ICSK) Junior for the academic year 2019-2020. The idea was visualized and implemented by Principal
Mrs. Sherly Dennis, ICSK Junior had the vision to create awareness amongst each student and staff through their involvement.
The various steps taken to reach the goal were
- Intra-school competition conducted on 29 October. The students from grade 4th, 5th and 6th were encouraged to show their talent by making an informative art work during school hours.
- On 27 November the teachers and staff painted the wall right next to the gate with 2 quotes and a wonderful depiction of Globe with the pluck-card saying “SAVE ME”
- From 2 till 4 December, it was the students who transferred their motivating thoughts from paper to the outer boundary walls of ICSK Junior, which included 5 quotes in English, 3 in Arabic and even paintings of Globe, a small village scene and lastly also a very soothing mountain scenery with swans leisurely swimming carefree.
Teachers and students created a spectacular masterpiece. Some took pictures and shared on media, some offered their kind words and a few were even keen on participating in the movement.
A wave of change has already hit the shores of ICSK Junior. Students are now intentionally abstaining from using plastic water bottles and tiffin boxes. They are even requesting their parents to switch to steel and glass.
