IIT-IIM AA hosts Gabqa and Iftar night at Kuwait Towers

IIT-IIM Alumni Association, Kuwait, organized a grand Gabqa and Iftar night combined with quiz sessions at the majestic and iconic Kuwait Towers’ Horizons restaurant on Friday, 10 May during the holy month of Ramadan.

The fraternity had a great time in the affectionate company of their families, invited friends, guests from notable organizations and Indian Business and Professional Council, Kuwait. The star of this grand musical extravaganza was the renowned local professional singer Mr. Kabeer, who enthralled the audience with a session of mellifluous and nostalgic tunes.

The program began with Mr. Bal, a very energetic Core committee member, who coordinated and compered the session, engaging the members and guests with musical cum Bollywood songs and Cricket audio quiz.

The IIT-IIM Alumni Association President, Peeyush Jain, welcomed all the distinguished guests which included three Principals and several CEOs & CFOs. The three Principals, Anju Dhiman, FAIPS-DPS, Shanta Maria James, ICS, and Mr. Binumon, ICSK, were honored for their yeoman service in the field of education by playing a vital role in preparing the future generations to excel in their chosen professions.

Mr. Jain gave a brief welcome speech where he presented the motto behind the evening program, as the Alumni was having the music program with local talent instead of inviting from India. This year too, the program was arranged to showcase the in-house as well as local professional singers’ talent by providing a platform for singing as well as meeting and greeting their friends.

The musical event itself began with Bhushan Joshi, the General Secretary, welcoming the singer, guests, and members. Mr. Bal presented a brief introduction of the invited local professional singing star of the evening, Mr. Kabeer. Mr. Bal, Mr. Anis and Mr. Ashish, the musically bent trio of the event conceived, planned and conducted an audio-based Bollywood songs quiz and Cricket Quiz, with several attendees winning prizes.

Mr. Joshi presented a brief bio of one of the distinguished members, Pankaj Khudasia, an IIT-BHU and Roorkee alumnus, and an employee of KOC over 25 years, who passed away recently. The members observed a two-minute silence as a mark of respect to the departed soul. He was fondly remembered as he was not only present at the very same venue and event last year and also sang two lovely songs.

As soon as the celebrated singer Mr. Kabeer took the floor, he won the hearts of the audience with his mesmerizing melodies of the popular yesteryears film songs. During the whole program, the audience was treated to the best of popular numbers.

The singer Mr. Kabeer with his perfect singing performance enthralled the audience fully, living up to his excellent reputation. Several of the members, and their family along with a few talented singers from invitees too sang some lovely numbers.

To recognize their continued support to the IIT-IIM Association ever since its inception, the association offered them the honorary membership of IIT-IIM Alumni association. They were also presented with Alumni mementos.  Other distinguished guests present were Ajay Goel, COO, City Centre, Anant Kapadia, General Secretary, IBPC, Rajul Batra, CFO, AlShaya, Vishwanath, Bank of Oman, Ashok Kamtan, a septuagenarian alumnus, of KNPC, who was celebrating his golden jubilee year of his graduation from his IIT, and Mr. Ramadoss, CEO, GTC.

The attendees enjoyed a variety of delicious snacks, and sumptuous dinner at the majestic Horizons Restaurant in the sphere of the Kuwait Tower.

During the interval, the President, Mr. Jain, felicitated the artist. He also thanked his entire Core Team, especially Mr. Bhushan and Mr. Bal. The other core team members Vipul, Calai, Anis, Ashish, Yogesh, Suresh and Srinivas made sure all the guests and fraternity were comfortable while ensuring all the event arrangements. All the Core Committee members worked tirelessly to make this event a grand success and one to be cherished for the members and their families.

Finally, the event ended with Bhushan Joshi, General Secretary of the Association proposing the vote of thanks. He thanked all the artists and participants for their mesmerizing performances. He also thanked all the invited guests and members who graced this musical evening along with their families and friends.
