Indian embassy in Kuwait celebrated on 15 August the country’s 73rd Independence Day at its premises in the presence of a large gathering of the Indian community, representatives from various Indian associations, special invitees and well-wishers.
Indian Ambassador to Kuwait H.E. K. Jeeva Sagar began the celebrations by placing a garland on the statue of Mahatma Gandhi, and then unfurling the tri-color Indian national flag to loud applause from the crowd. Ambassador Sagar then read the text of the message from the Honorable President of India Shri Ram Nath Kovind. In his message, the president commended the successful general elections held recently in India, which was the largest democratic exercise in the world, and called upon the people to support the government’s efforts to introduce various reforms and initiatives aimed at growth and development of the country and its economy.
Members of the Indian community and Indian school students in Kuwait then gave colorful presentations and sang patriotic songs glorifying the country. Various marching tunes were also rendered by the Muhammadee Scout band of the Bohra Community.
In his address to the gathering, the Indian Ambassador Sagar emphasized the historically close, warm and friendly relations between India and Kuwait, and urged the Indian community to work together in maintaining the community’s good name as law-abiding residents. He also called upon Indians to abide by the trust and confidence reposed upon them by the leadership, the government, and the people of Kuwait. He concluded his speech by extending his warmest greetings on the occasion of the 73rd Independence to all members of the Indian community in Kuwait.
