Kuwait Banking Association (KBA) said Saturday the local banks in Kuwait enjoy a high level of cybersecurity and protection of the data and information of their clientele.

The banks, except for the Gulf Bank, reported no hacking or tampering with their information systems, KBA said in a press release, affirming the commitment of all banks to ensuring the safety of the accounts of their clientele. On March 27, the Gulf Bank announced a technical failure in its system of international remittances and said later on that the problem did not affect the accounts of its clients. However, the problem caused loss of KD2.8 million (some US$9.2 million), or nearly 0.4 percent of the dividends of its shareholders.
