Kuwait stressed on Wednesday that it would continue expressing the voice and concerns of all Arabs during its non-permanent membership in the UN Security Council.

This came in a speech by Deputy Foreign Minister Khaled Al-Jarallah before the 151st regular session of Arab League Foreign Ministers.Challenges facing the joint Arab action requires unifying stances, he said.

The meeting comes “in light of continued challenges, circumstances, multiple crises and inability in the Arab world that “we, UN efforts and international resolutions failed to find a solution to them, therefore sufferings continue, challenges increase and risks double”, he said.

He called for collective efforts to deal with the current situation so as to restore stability and security to the Arab world.”In light of circumstances facing our Arab world, we are invited today to create mutual concepts to our crises, their results and risks if they continue,” he told the attendees.

“Terrorist acts which have targeted all of us pose a challenge which requires the activation of our alliance with the international community in order to eradicate this phenomenon and protect our societies from its evil,” he said.Despite victories over these criminal, this stage and long tunnel can not be crossed amid splits and differences in stances, he explained.

Crises in the Arab world are still far from being resolved as the Palestinian cause is still facing stalemate that reflects instability and leads to increased violence and tension, not to mention the sufferings of the brotherly Palestinian people, he noted.

The world is still unable to implement the international legitimacy’s resolutions, he pointed out, urging the international community to exert serious efforts to push the Middle East peace process and find a final solution to it, in line with these resolutions, the Arab initiative peace and the two- state solution.

Al-Jarallah affirmed Kuwait’s firm stance towards the Palestinian cause and its endeavors through its UNSC non-permanent membership to find a resolution in line with these references.

On Yemen, he said the world welcomed the agreement signed in Stockholm, adding that its implementation on the ground still face obstacles and difficulties, despite sufferings of the Yemeni people.

Kuwait responded to the UN call and announced pledges of USD 600 million to face humanitarian needs to the brotherly Yemeni people, he made clear.However, Al-Jarallah emphasized that the political solution is the only way for the Yemeni crisis in accordance with the three agreed-upon references.

On the Syrian crisis, the Kuwaiti official stressed there is no solution in sight in this regard, despite UN efforts and international endeavors.He expressed his hope that the international community would find a solution to stop the bloodshed of brothers and maintain their country in line with the resolutions of the international legitimacy, mainly the UNSC resolution 2,254 and the Geneva I statement.

Concerning the situation in Libya, Al-Jarallah said that the science in Libya is still complicated and efforts are facing obstacles and difficulties. He renewed the call for implementing the UN action plan presented by Special Representative of Secretary General to Libya Ghassan Salame.

He pointed to efforts exerted by the United Arab Emirates in this regard, hoping that the international community would end this crisis soon.Al-Jarallah thanked Sudan’s foreign minister al-Dardiri Ahmad for his efforts during his presidency of the last session.

He also thanked Arab League Secretary General Ahmad Aboul-Gheit and the Secretariat General for efforts made in the last and the current sessions.
