Held under the patronage of H.E. Dr. Basel Al-Sabah, Minster of Health of Kuwait, the three-day forum brought together leading local physicians from the healthcare sector in Kuwait, along with renowned international experts from Children’s National, to share knowledge, expertise and best practices on key issues in pediatric specialty care. The team of speakers from Children’s National included Gerard Martin, MD, Anastassios Koumbourlis, MD, Jeffrey Lukish, MD, and Anil Darbari, MD.
Situated in the heart of Washington, D.C., Children’s National is one of the United States’ Top 5 pediatrics hospitals and is ranked number one in newborn care. It is also ranked in all the specialties evaluated by US News & World Report. The hospital receives thousands of international patient visits each year from all around the globe, including many from Kuwait and other GCC countries.
With regards to the conference, Dr. Gerard Martin, Medical Director of Global Services at Children’s National, said: “At Children’s National, we are always looking for ways to collaborate with like-minded local healthcare entities, organizations and groups to partner on knowledge and expertise exchanges. An international collaboration, through the form of scientific meetings and medical conferences, is important for bi-directional learning and enables professionals to gain fresh perspectives and expand their knowledge base.
On his part, Rami Al-Tayar, Regional Director at Children’s National, said: “We are proud of our long and fruitful partnership with the medical community in Kuwait, and this conference is only the latest in a long string of collaborative projects we have had in this great country. We are delighted to have the continued opportunity to engage with healthcare providers across Kuwait, enabling our own pediatric specialists to share their medical knowledge and expertise to help caregivers provide the best care possible for children. We look forward to even more collaboration in the future.”
