The National Assembly (parliament) failed to hold a scheduled session owing to lack of quorum and government absence on Sunday, Deputy Speaker Isa AlKanderi said. “As the required quorum has not been met and the government has notified Speaker Marzouq Al-Ghanim that it would not attend, the assembly cannot convene today,” he said at parliament.

Al-Ghanim said on Thursday that the government would not join today’s session due to lack of prior coordination. Al-Kanderi noted that as per Article 116 of the constitution, the government must attend parliament sessions.
