Temperatures are expected to drop over the weekend as the weather will turn chilly, with high chances of extreme winds, Kuwait astronomer Adel Al Saadoun has forecast.

Al-Saadoun told Kuna on Thursday that the Al-Murabaniya season will begin on Saturday and last 40 days while Kuwait will be gripped after Dec 28th with a cold wave lasting upto 14 Feb.

He pointed out that in the winter temperatures drop and the average temperature in Kuwait City will be 8 degrees Celsius, but on some days it could drop as low as zero degrees Celsius. He said the rapid north winds, which cause an increase in cold originate from the regions of Russia, Siberia and Europe.

He added that most of the Kuwaiti lands have not received enough rain water, and that there is no sign of a prosperous spring, as it happened last year.
