Minister of Health Sheikh Dr. Bassel Al-Sabah reaffirmed Kuwait’s commitment to the policy of upgrading the standards of patient safety, noting that this policy is on top of the agenda of his ministry.
Sheikh Dr. Bassel is leading Kuwait delegation to the Fourth Ministerial Patient Safety Summit, which kicked off in Jeddah on Saturday under patronage of Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud.
“Over long decades, the Kuwaiti Ministry of Health has been implementing programs for combating the communicable diseases and improving healthcare quality and accreditation with a view to ensuring the safety of patients,” he told KUNA.
“The Ministry’s structure includes an independent department for reviewing the application of quality and patient safety standards and verifying the soundness of medicines in collaboration with concerned international agencies,” the minister pointed out.
Sheikh Dr. Bassel and the heads of delegation attending the summit, are expected to sign Jeddah Declaration.
