Kerala community in Kuwait with support from Loka Kerala Sabha members once again came to the aid of Kerala state, following recent torrential rains, floods and mudslides that devastated many areas and claimed several lives in the state.

Last year too, the Indian community in Kuwait lend a hand to Kerala when devastating floods destroyed thousands of homes and caused the death of hundreds there.

Kuwait based Keralites under the auspices of Loka Kerala Saba convened a meeting of community leaders to raise emergency support for people in distress from the flooding. More than100 members from 35 organizations participated in the meeting.

Well-known migration expert and Kerala Public Service Commission member Dr. Ginu Zacharia who was on a visit to Kuwait inaugurated the meeting. Saying that Kerala diaspora was the backbone of Kerala, Dr. Zacharia lauded the contributions made by the diaspora whenever the state has faced difficulties, especially during the recent hardships from climate change related disasters.

The meeting, held in Abassiya, was presided over by Sreemlal, while Ajith Kumar briefed the audience about the Kerala government migrant friendly policies and programs. Mubarak Kamroth (GKPA) Muhammed Faizal (FIMA)Sakir Hussain  (KIG) Jyothidas ( Santhwanam Kuwait), I.V. Alex (Idukki Association, Sathar Kunnil (INL), T.V. Hikmath ( Kala), Jacob Channapetta, Basheer Batha, and V.D. Paulose spoke on the occasion. Babu Francis made the concluding remarks.  Sam Pynummoodu welcomed the gathering and Thomas Mathew Kadavil expressed vote of thanks
