The Ministry of Health (MoH) has requested to increase the value of the Pfizer contract by 200%. The value of the contract is to be increased by  KD 14.5 million equivalent to USD 48 million, Al Anbaa daily reported quoting informed sources.

The sources told the daily that the issuance of the change has come at a time when Kuwait is expanding the vaccination campaign.

The sources stated that the Central Agency for Public Tenders had approved the Ministry of Health’s request to issue the change order while providing the agency with a detailed report on the contracts that were made regarding the provision of vaccines.

On the other hand, the Assistant Undersecretary for Private Medical Services Affairs at the Ministry of Health, Dr. Fatimah Al-Najjar, announced the reduction of the maximum ceiling for the pricing of (PCR) examination in private laboratories accredited by the Ministry, provided that it does not exceed 20 Kuwaiti dinars.

Dr. Fatimah Al-Najjar indicated that this was based on the approval of the Minister of Health, Sheikh Dr. Basil Al-Sabah for the Health Licensing Committee Decision No. (3-2021), based on the international and regional review of PCR prices.
