The Ministry of Interior has seized about 39 kilos of ‘chemical’, 50,000 Captagon pills, 4 kilos of shabu, 250 grams of cannabis and a firearm from a farm in Kabad.

The Interior Ministry in a statement said the big seizure comes in the framework of the ministry’s efforts to tackle the scourge of drugs and to chase those who promote narcotics to protect the society from this menace and its destructive effects.

The daily added, personnel from the General Department of Drug Control have taken into custody an unidentified person from Taima. At the time of arrest he was in possession of a large quantity of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances.

Ministry sources said the arrest came after the Criminal Investigations Department received a tip-off that someone was promoting narcotics in the area. Immediately, a team was formed to collect information and identified the location of the suspect.

During interrogation, the suspect admitted that the seizures belonged to a bedoun who is serving time in the Central Prison and that he was selling the drugs on his behalf.

After the necessary legal permission was taken, the house of the bedoun’s brother in Al-Oyoun was raided and securitymen found narcotic pills and money but the man was not there. Efforts are on to arrest him.
