Kuwait Municipality was applauded for the signing of new contracts at a lower price with the cleaning companies, on the other hand, it was criticised for its weak response to the numerous violations committed by the cleaning companies since signing the contract.
The municipality was lauded and criticised by member Abdelsalam Al-Randi , who while congratulating the municipality on the new contracts wondered how the companies who had committed over 21 violations since signing the contract were fined only KD200. He pointed out that it was strange that you have to pay a fine of KD200 to KD300 for throwing tissue on the street, but companies that commit gross cleanliness violations are fined only a meager KD200. He blamed the municipality for its weak supervision of the cleaning companies.
Meanwhile, councilmember Humoud Al-Enezi said 17 cleaning contracts were reviewed, and commended the way they were drafted. He called for applying the GPS system and monitoring cleaning contractors in governorates.
