Kuwait Municipality Director General Ahmad Al-Manfouhi declared on Tuesday that KD22 million (US$72.5 million) have been earmarked to renovate infrastructure at the district of Jleeb Al-Shoyoukh. Al-Manfouhi made the statement after a team of the special commission tasked with examining the district conditions, said the group made a note of defects in the region’s infrastructure. Conditions there “are unacceptable,” he said.

He indicated that the area hosts unlicensed warehouses packed with food products, which will be shut down and the products will be confiscated. On the issue of the bachelors, he indicated that they cannot be moved out of the region until the ‘bachelors towns’ have been established – alluding to the labor towns. There have been grave offenses in this region such as stealing power cables, he added, and stressed the high need for repairing the infrastructure in the district.
