The National Assembly commenced the grilling of Finance Minister Nayef Al-Hajraf, filed by MP Mohammad Hayef on Tuesday. Earlier in the session, Speaker Marzouq Al-Ghanim noted that Al-Hajraf was informed about the grilling request, as soon as it was presented by Hayef on Monday, according to Article 135 of the Kuwaiti Constitution.
The article states that a grilling must be carried out after eight days of presenting the request, with the exception of urgent cases. The minister can request to delay the grilling for up to two weeks. According to MP Hayef, the grilling request is based on the minister’s mishandling of interest on pensions and the legality of it. Article 100 of the Constitution granted the right for every MP to grill the Prime Minister and other ministers on topics of their specialties.
