Restaurant delivery mopeds, scooters, and motorbikes, speeding through traffic, driving recklessly and weaving from lane to lane in a way that often leads to traffic accidents and injuries to the driver, has become a normal sight on our roads.
These vehicles, with their oversized delivery boxes in the rear, are in many cases imperfectly balanced and can cause them to topple over in traffic.
Now the traffic department has decided to act and last week launched a campaign against these delivery bikes, which resulted in the issuing of 109 citations for various violations.
The traffic cops also impounded 97 motorbikes and referred violators to concerned authorities for legal action. The authorities have said that the campaign against such drivers and their vehicles will continue across the country for an unspecified time.
