I warmly congratulate His Highness the Amir, the government and the people of Kuwait on the 60th anniversary of its independence and the 30th anniversary of its liberation.
I arrived in Kuwait a few months ago and this is the first national day celebration I will attend here. I thoroughly enjoy the festive atmosphere in the country with so many flags and lights decorating houses and streets. Year after year, the bilateral relations between the Netherlands and the State of Kuwait grow stronger. We regard Kuwait as a trusted partner and a main actor in global humanitarian and peace efforts. Furthermore, we appreciate the mediation role Kuwait plays regarding various regional issues.
Our businesses have built substantial partnerships over the years. I look forward to continue working with my Kuwaiti colleagues and friends to enhance our already strong relations based on the common values shared between us and for the benefit of both countries.
I wish the State of Kuwait and its people a bright future, prosperity and lasting peace and stability.
