National Assembly’s regular session began Tuesday with two new cabinet members taking an oath in accordance with Article 91 of the Kuwaiti Constitution. Finance Minister Barrak Al-Shitan and Minister of Electricity and Water Mohammad Bushehri, both recited the oath before parliament.
As stated in the article, before taking up his/her functions at the Assembly or at its Committees, a member of the National Assembly shall take oath to serve the country and people. This Sunday, Amiri Decree 49/2020 was issued in this regard, as both ministers took oath before His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah the day after. Dr. Khaled Al-Fadhel’s ministerial position was amended as Oil Minister, while Maryam Al-Aqeel was renamed as Minister of Social Affairs and Minister of State for Economic Affairs.
