Kuwait Authority for Partnership Projects (KAPP), the entity responsible for supervising the country’s public-private partnership (PPP) initiatives, is reportedly in the final stages of inviting bids on PPP basis for developing a mega car auction market in the Al-Ahmadi governorate.

According to local media reports, bids for the construction of a 40- hectare car auction market in Arifjan, to the south of Kuwait City in Al-Ahmadi governorate, is expected to be released soon by KAPP. The car auction market will be one of three tenders that KAPP has slated to release as part of its bidding plans for the fiscal year 2019-20. The other two bids are related to developing financial and legal advisory services to support KAPP programs.

The car auction market project is planned to comprise of auction rooms, auto service offices, used car exhibition halls, and other facilities.

Established in 2008 under Article 12 of Law No. 7/2008, KAPP serves as the main body responsible for overseeing the implementation of Kuwait’s PPP projects.

With the aim of utilizing private sector skills and expertise to maximize value for money and service quality, KAPP is currently in the process of initiating several high-impact projects in the power, water, education, health, transportation, communications, real estate, and solid waste management sectors.

Recently, KAPP along with the Kuwait Municipality invited six shortlisted local real estate developers to submit proposals for an upcoming entertainment, cultural, commercial and sports center to be located in Al-Egaila area of Al-Ahmadi governorate.
