The decision by the Ministry of Health to transfer 215 nurses from the Emergency Medical Department to other health areas and facilities from last October to January will cause a shortage of nurses in the ‘emergency’ sector, reports Al-Qabas daily quoting sources from the ministry.

The daily said the nurses were transferred to hospitals in Jaber Al-Ahmed, Jahra, Adan, Sabah, Amiri and Farwaniya hospitals to fill the shortage in some health facilities so that appropriate health services could be provided.

The sources pointed out the decision contributed significantly to reduce the number of nurses and paramedics in the medical emergency sector. The sources pointed out, the next phase will see new ambulances to be introduced into service, which requires additional staff of paramedics in addition to the need of medical personnel during official holidays to provide assistance to the sick and the injured.
