One Filipina woman who came in contact with a Kuwaiti who returned from United Kingdom was among the six new cases of Covid-19 infected persons, announced by the ministry of health today.

While four cases were linked to travel from the UK the other two came in contact with them and got infected with the virus.

Kuwait has implemented a number of measures to contain the spread of the virus, including shutting down the airport and closing all government offices for two weeks ending March 28.

All public spaces are closed, malls are closed, dine in restaurants as well as schools, universities, saloons, have suspended operations until further notice.

Expats and Kuwaitis are warned not to violate the law which is being strictly implemented in the larger interest of the health of the residents.

However still there are more than 55,000 Kuwaitis overseas that the government intends to bring back. Kuwait Foreign Minister Sheikh Dr. Ahmad
Nasser Mohammad Al-Sabah said relevant government ministries were coordinating return of citizens from abroad.

Kuwait has seen only a small increase daily in the number of new cases which stand at 148. It is expected that with the return of citizens from overseas the number might increase and the government is taking every precaution to contain the spread.
