The 67th Independence Day of Pakistan was celebrated with the usual ferver with a colorful ceremony at the Embassy of Islamic Republic of Pakistan.  Large number of people representing different shades of Pakistani community and officials of the Embassy were present on the occasion.

The ceremony started with the hoisting of the national flag with the national anthem playing in the background. The formal proceedings took place at the main Quaid-e-Azam Auditorium with recitation of verses from the Holy Quran. Afterward, the messages of the President and the Prime Minister of Pakistan were read out to the participants.

The President and the Premier both urged the nation to rededicate itself to the democratic ideals and principles of Father of the nation in order to build a progressive, tolerant, moderate and pluralistic Pakistan.

Pakistan’s Ambassador to Kuwait Syed Abrar Hussian, in his remarks, said that the country has developed steadily in the last 66 years despite multiple challenges. He said the peaceful transition from one government to another has established the roots of democracy even further. An independent judicial system, a vocal media and a dynamic civil society provide a solid foundation for a brighter future of Pakistan, he said.

Collective prayers for the stability and progress of Pakistan were held at the end of the ceremony.
