If you were wondering and growing worried about the delay in getting your civil ID renewed, fret not; the problem lies not with you, but with the Public Authority for Civil Information (PACI).
Issuance of civil IDs, which previously took less than 48 hours, now apparently takes more than a week, because of a printing-material shortage with the vendor supplying PACI.
Rumors of the computer system at PACI being hacked, are just that, unfounded rumors, said a source at PACI. The system is up and running, but the delay in printing civil IDs is because of a scarcity of printing material, which would be rectified in the coming days, said the source.
