The Ministry of Education said mobile canteens have been introduced to serve the needs of schoolchildren who are permitted to by food and drinks during the permitted time.
This was disclosed through a bulletin which was issued by the Assistant Undersecretary for Public Education Osama Al-Sultan to all educational districts, the Department of Religious Education and Special Education Schools, to all educational districts.
The Al-Anba daily states, ‘With reference to the meeting held on Oct 14, 2021, between the joint committee of the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Health said this is done to organize the ‘canteen facility in the best interest of the schoolchildren to provide them an appropriate atmosphere when they are in school. The circular says:
- Allow students to leave during an ‘opportune’ time to go to the school compound in full compliance with all health protocols and under the direct supervision of the school administration.
- Food and drinks to be sold by mobile canteens are those that are permitted in accordance with the bulletins and circulars issued in this regard.
- Not specifying a fixed place for points of sale so that there will be no gatherings or scrambling among the students in one place, but preferably sold by using trolleys in more than one place inside the school.
The school administration supervises the implementation of this procedure, and it is followed up on a daily and periodic basis in order to ascertain students adhere to all health requirements including physical distancing in this regard.
