Competition Protection Authority (CPA) has reportedly turned down a settlement plea made by Kuwait’s two largest food delivery firms, Carriage and Talabat.

The two firms face are facing lawsuits and more than KD5 million in fines from the CPA, after they were found in violation of fair competition rules in the country.

The CPA has called on the two firms to immediately address the violations in the contracts they signed with restaurants and coffee houses and end their monopolization of the food delivery business. In addition, they were also asked to pay the stipulated fines imposed on them

The two companies have been refusing to comply with the decisions taken by CPA in July 2019 and refusing to pay the fine against them.

The CPA is authorized to pursue legal action, including the suspension of licenses issued to the two companies, if they continue defying its orders. The Investigations General Department is reportedly looking into the lawsuits filed against the two companies.
