Speaker says H.H. Amir has no intention to dissolve parliament

His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah has no intention to dissolve the parliament, speaker Marzouq Ali Al-Ghanim announced on Thursday. In a statement to journalists, Speaker Al-Ghanim said he addressed on Wednesday a “message to the political leadership regarding his opinion, along with views of a number of MPs, that the problem lies in lack of harmony among members of the government team.

“There must be cohesion so that the journey (government tasks) proceed regularly.” “Based on what His Highness the Amir has told me, I do not believe that there is any intention to dissolve the National Assembly for the time being, however the situation warrants re-arranging (re-shuffling) the government team (lineup).” Dissolution of the parliament is an exclusive right for His Highness the Amir, he has affirmed. Elaborating, Al-Ghanim said he has not officially received the government resignation till now. Nevertheless, “there must be a remedy to the flaw in the government tasks .. And I believe it will be done decisively. “There must be a coherent government team.”
