Latest available statistics from the Public Authority for Civil Information (PACI) show that as of the end of December 2018, there were a total of 910,000 Kuwaitis above the age of 15, of whom 249,000 Kuwaiti women and 239,000 Kuwaiti men were married, while 171,000 men and 156,000 women remained unmarried. In addition there were 66,000 who were divorcees and 29,000 who were widowed.

Among a total of 2.8 million expatriates above the age of 15, around 1.1 million men and 510,000 women were married, while 877,000 men and 230,000 women remained unmarried. Of those married, 28,000 were divorcees and 9,900 were widowed.

In the total population of 3.7 million aged above 15, there were 2.1 million married and 1.4 were unmarried, 95,000 were divorced and 39,000 were widowed. The discrepancy in the total figures arises because around 31,000 of the total marriageable age population did not wish to state their marital status.

The statistics also revealed that 19,400 Kuwaiti women were married to foreigners, the vast majority (18,000) to other Arabs. In addition, 735 Kuwaiti women married Asians, , 334 married Europeans or North Americans,  57 were married to South Americans, 36 to Australians and 33 married Africans.
