Fraudulent recruitment agencies in India, conniving with local agents in Kuwait, have managed to once again cheat naive workers from India, by promising them lucrative jobs in Kuwait in exchange for money.

This time, the victims are a group of 35 Indian workers from the state of Karnataka, who were allegedly promised well-paying jobs in Kuwait by a recruitment agency in Mangaluru named Manikya Associates. After paying the requested rupees 65,000 each as service fees, the workers were granted work visas and arrived in Kuwait. But on arrival, they soon realized that they had been duped and that the promised jobs did not exist.

In a recent social media video broadcast, one of the workers claimed that  since there was no proper employment agreement, the company issuing the visa has not provided jobs to the majority of people who came here on their visa.

A few got jobs as delivery workers for food service companies, but they have not been paid for the past five or six months. Recently, four people were injured in an accident while delivering food,  but the company did not give them any treatment,” complained one worker. In the video, another worker named Abu Bakker is heard saying that after taking the money, the Indian company cheated them and is now threatening to put them behind bars in Kuwait.

Tulu Koota Kuwait (TKK), a socio-cultural organization of Kannadigas in Kuwait, has reportedly stepped forward to help their compatriots stranded in Kuwait. The organization, known for its compassionate social welfare activities, has visited the camp where the workers are staying and provided them with basic living items. They also contacted relevant people in Kuwait and India to inform of the plight of the workers and to take speedy action to repatriate them to India, or find them suitable jobs in Kuwait. Other Indian associations are also lending a hand to help fellow Indians stranded in Kuwait.
