Street vendors are a common sight on main roads, squares and marketplaces around Kuwait, where they peddle their wares, anything from food to clothing, to passerbys. The biggest issues arising from what is considered a negative phenomenon is the unhygienic conditions of the food. Street hawkers usually offer foodstuff and drinks that do not fulfill health requirements and poses a health hazard. Moreover, many problems arise with selling old and used clothing as well as used products. There are also many detrimental economic and social effects to the general populace associated with street vendors.

The Kuwait Municipality has come out against this practice by often the poorer sections of society, and inspectors are doing rounds to catch perpetrators, and doing their utmost to enforce the laws and protect consumers.
