Two of the largest food delivery firms in Kuwait have said they would comply with the regulations, as specified by the Competition Protection Authority (CPA). An agreement to this effect was signed between the CPA and Delivery Hero, the parent company of Kuwait’s leading food delivery companies, Talabat and Carriage.

As part of the new agreement, Talabat and Carriage will remove a clause in their contract, which had mandated that restaurants seeking the services of other food delivery firms would have to pay a surcharge of 2 percent on deliveries made by the two large firms. The amended contracts are expected to come into effect once they are approved by the CPA.

The Berlin-based international German company Delivery Hero is one of the largest online food-delivery firms in the world. In 2015, Delivery Honda acquired Talabat and in 2017 Carriage, making the German company one of the most important foreign investors in Kuwait.
